International Film Festival “TAORMINA ARTE”
June 11–18, 2011

On the East Coast of Sicily, fund’s guests attended the 57th International Film Festival “Taormina Arte”. The festival started with giving of honorary awards in an ancient Greek theatre. Their winners were Italian actress Monica Bellucci and American film director Oliver Stone. The same evening saw the long-awaited premiere of the animated film Kung Fu Panda-2”. It was presented by the famous comedian Jack Black who voiced the protagonist Panda Po.

The festival’s competitive program included 9 films from Europe, Africa, and Asia.

At evening cocktail parties the guests enjoyed the magnificent view of Etna volcano, Naxos Bay and Giardini from the terrace of Timeo Hotel. The guests took a fascinating sail-boat tour along the scenic Sicilian Coast and isles, while lovers of extreme – a jeep excursion on the slopes of the active Etna Volcano. The famous singer of Russian romances Olga Pavenskaya sang during the banquet. The guests remembered best of all the “Ochi chyornye” romance she sang together with film director Oliver Stone. The Russian soiree organized by us was a remarkable event of this festival.
