October 10, 2014 - Kucukyali ArkeoPark, Istanbul. Byzantine Cultural Routes in Turkey, Italy and Russia

On October 10, 2014 a conference was held on Byzantine routes in Istanbul. The theme of the conference was the Byzantine heritage of Istanbul, with its Byzantine monuments, attracting international tourists. The conference was attended by scholars and experts of Turkish and international tourism. Presentations were also made by prof. Sergei Ivanov, Chairman of the ACEB Scientific Council and Igor Danilov, president of the Cities-Heirs of Byzantium Association. The conference discussed the possibility of creating different Byzantine routes for different types of travel and different audiences, stressing the importance of such routes for research, conservation and popularisation of historical monuments. The result of the conference was the entrance of new partners in the Cities-heirs of Byzantium Association АСЕВ, which will develop project plans for Byzantine routes in Turkey.
