Announce of the "BYZANTINE ROUTES" photography exhibition in Rossano

The ASEV Association is proud to announce that on July 26 it will present the "Byzantine routes" photography exhibition. The exhibition will be held in the city of Rossano, one of the most picturesque corners of the Calabria region having a plurality of the Byzantine cultural monuments. It will acquaint you with cultural tourist routes testifying to the interrelationships between the Italian and Russian cultures based on the Byzantine culture. Of particular interest is the route to the cities associated with the name of Theophanes the Greek, a great Byzantine icon-painter. You will visit Moscow, Novgorod the Great and St. Petersburg. Thanks to exhibits you will see the Annunciation Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin and the icon of St. John the Baptist from the Cathedral deesis, the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Novgorod the Great and a fragment of its frescoes, the magnificent monuments of the Byzantine era imitated by the Novgorod Transfiguration Church on the Ilyina Street and the Church of St. Theodore Stratelates on the Brook as well as the Kronstadt Naval Cathedral that is a replica of the Cathedral of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.

Among the Byzantine routes there are also the routes over the Byzantine Calabria. Due to the photographs you will get acquainted with the Byzantine heritage of such cities as Amendolara, Rossano and Santa Severina.

This year marks 700 years since the birth of St. Sergius of Radonezh, a spiritual leader and a reformer of the monasticism in medieval Russia (he revived strict monastic rules).
